Can you get cagrilintide as treatment?

The approval record has a date
Neither cagrilintide nor CagriSema had US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for any use on September 28, 2026.Read FDA's position
Novo Nordisk, the drug developer, applied for CagriSema approval in December 2025.
In the records checked September 28, 2026, the company expected a US decision in the final three months of 2026.Read the company's filed report
That was a company forecast, not an approval or a firm date from FDA.
The application was for the combination in adult weight care, not cagrilintide alone.
A pharmacy-made version is not an access shortcut
A pharmacist or doctor can make a medicine to order; that process is called compounding.
As of September 26, 2026, FDA stated that cagrilintide could not be compounded under federal law.See the FDA compounding statement
A prescription did not create an approved cagrilintide product or remove that restriction as of September 28, 2026.
If an offer uses the word compounded, ask for a clear explanation of the product and the rules it relies on.
A study is a separate route
Public records checked September 28, 2026, showed cagrilintide use under FDA oversight in clinical trials, which are studies with human volunteers.
These studies have registry numbers on ClinicalTrials.gov, the US government's study register.
For a study offer, ask for that number and the name of the study contact. Look up the record yourself and compare the details.
A registry entry alone does not prove that the person making an offer belongs to that study.
FDA has another possible way to get a drug still being studied, called expanded access. It serves people with a serious or life-threatening illness who have no suitable treatment and cannot join a trial. FDA and a doctor must judge whether a person's illness meets the rules.
On September 28, 2026, ClinicalTrials.gov listed no expanded-access program for cagrilintide or CagriSema. A request for one patient may be absent from that public list.
This does not tell you whether your weight-care needs qualify. For an unlisted offer, ask for the doctor's name and the FDA paperwork that supports it.
